Mobos relocate

The Mobo Awards are leaving London after 13 years and heading to Glasgow. Of all the cities in the UK the urban music event is going to take place in Scotland… interesting! I have attended the Mobos twice, the first time was the best probably because I didn’t know what to expect. Brandy and Jamelia performed whilst Mos Def hosted the night and got some quizzical looks from Janet Jackson lol. The second time I was so far from the stage I literally had to squint to try and gauge who was performing. It’s such a distant memory I can’t even recall who the host was.
Year after year we have seen what was once an accolade of great musical acts watered down. The Mobos used to attract US acts such as Usher, Rhianna, Jay Z, Left Eye. Diddy and Destiny’s Child. Unfortunately the calibre of artists has been replaced with less desirable acts. It seems that the Mobos is always on a last minute.com flex and have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for performers. I guess it doesn’t help when people drop out left, right and centre. The Mobos have now become boring, predictable and the performances/acts are nothing to shout about. How many times is Steve Sutherland going to win Best Radio DJ?!?!?!?
