Boomerang Relationships

I read this really interesting piece yesterday about boomerang r/ships aka on-off relationships, check out the article here. I know there a many who have fell short of the hmmmm maybe we can give it another try, maybe he/she will change, 3rd time lucky and all, but I’m not so sure if that’s such a good idea. I know there are cases of couples re-uniting and living happily ever after, and then there are those that don’t. It really does depend on why you split up in the 1st place. However there are a few things to bear in mind….

The article highlighted that many people go back to the familiarity as they are too busy to make a fresh start hoping things will improve if they go back. 9 out of 10 cases I would say very unlikely. We all know that we can’t change people; they have to want to change for themselves. Another point that got my back up slightly was that men are often happy to keep women hanging on but not wanting to make a lasting commitment. How selfish is that, but really? I know it’s not just men that are guilty of this trait but seriously it’s not cool to have people just hanging around until you find your self something better. Particularly if you know full well the other person has a bit of a love jones for you. Hmmmm come on men sort it out if you can’t/won’t commit just tell her straight!

Biggest issue it seems though is that us woman don’t think we are good enough to deserve anything better than a half baked relationship. WHAT THE BEEP?!?!?!? Ladies if you need to listen to Beyonce “singled ladies….put a ring on it” every day then so be it. Come on now there is someone out there for every body you should never settle for less, although we often do way too many times- sigh!!!

P.S I’m not hating on men as I know some of you brothers can relate to the above.

Slumdog

After bagging myself a regular entertainment slot on the radio (thank you Jesus) I've realised I now need to step my game up. This week I'll be covering The Oscar's and of course I'll need to have watched all of the films nominated, Doubt- check, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button- check, Slumdog Millionaire-check.
This film was GOOD, that's it good, not superb, or brilliant just good! It reminded me a little of City of God just not as dark or violent. You know how it goes feel good movie, happy ending add a little child exploitation, film made in a foreign country etc...
After watching I couldn’t help but think wow look at all the media attention this film has received. No doubt Danny will walk away with an armful of Oscars this coming Sunday as it is a good story and the kids put on a great performance throughout.

The International

This film was alright! I’ll give it a 5/10 just because I’m a big Clive Owen fan. The film looks at corruption within a BIG banking institution, okay if you’re into that kind of thing. If you don’t like violence then give this film a miss.

Cheryl

Oh how Mrs Cheryl Cole must be smiling from ear to ear. They hype around this woman has reached fever pitch-geez!!! What a difference a year can make, this time last year she was in turmoil about hubby Ashley’s infidelity and tonight she will attend the Brit Awards arm in arm with the footballer.

The UK seems to have embraced the Geordie lass after her debut on the X Factor. I understand that being part of a reality TV show she can relate to the people who audition. This does not mean she can go on and crack the States like everybody is predicting. What is she going to do become a presenter off the back of what the X Factor? Have her own show and talk about what? I haven’t seen enough to convince me she can crack the states YET.

The pro’s she has Simon Cowell behind, he has already opened the doors for her by giving her a big break on the X Factor panel and is routing for her hard. You can’t go wrong with Simon backing you. She is a very attractive girl this is a good look in the land of groomed folk. She has appeared in Will I Am’s video and is apparently going to do more work with him. She was spotted at the Grammy’s a few weeks back, not too bad Chezza I see you’ve got the networking on lock down. She has a nice smile which projects a warm personality (hmm maybe). There are talks of a solo project 3 guesses she will go down the R N B/ Urban route.

Cons- Although she’s in Girls Aloud and is set to do another series of the X Factor not that many people know off her state side. She can’t compete with the calibre of presenter’s out there already. Do American’s get the Geordie accent? She does not blow her own trumpet enough something you have to do if you even want to stand a chance in the US. She is an okay singer but can she compete with Pink, Britney, and Beyonce- of course not! (She can dance though) She has too many commitments here in the UK, a husband who is not going to do a Beckham move and play for the States, would they even want him, The X Factor, Girls Aloud…..

Watch this space eh.

Throwback!

Sorry for the expletives in advance I couldn’t find a censored version! I know ya’ll remember this jam, and we all know the remix is better than the original. This is the typical video that would get rinsed out on Yo MTV Raps (an hour long music programme purposely for hip-hop music) -why was it aired so late and why did it get taken off?

Remember when artists would do a remix and the video’s would have a bundle of cameo appearances. Remember when Hype Williams was the only man you would go too to direct your music video. Remember when music videos were good and would demonstrate artist’s creativity. Oh how things have changed-sigh!

Puffy had to be first in the video to introduce the song along with his trademark dancing and appearance’s every 10 seconds. Was that his baby on his lap? Biggie Smalls doing what he does best. LL Cool J trying to create a fashion statement with his one trouser leg rolled up and his signature lip licking. Busta Rhymes when he was relatively slimmer, and way wackier. Rampage what ever happened to him? Irv Gotti before he became the master mind of Murder Inc. Benzino another rapper that fell off the radar, then again was he ever on it? I wonder where Craig Mack is now?
