Today has got to be...

the worst day I have had in a very long time!!!!! It was your typical EVERYTHING goes wrong day and I need some where to vent my frustration. I didn’t wake up in the best of moods but I reminded myself that it’s all about Positive Mental Attitude (side- eye).

I was working on TV today and the evening programme went to pot as the show kept changing. My scripts had yet to be checked (not good considering the news programme had already started) and anyone who works within media understands that presenters can be divas sometimes. Then new stories were added and I forgot to inform the presenter- BIG SIGH!!!! Oops my bad hence a Diva tantrum alert lol. I then had to do additional work for my Entertainment slot this coming Sunday. This included doing a quick vox with the good old London folk.

The icing on the cake was that when it was time to put my stories up online the sub editors informed me they couldn’t live them as I don’t have my own log in. It’s now 9:54pm and I am still at work. Oh yeah I haven’t really eaten properly either- bring out the violins.

I now have to go home and pack my mini suitcase as I’m working all day tomorrow until 7pm. I will then trek to the other side of London to get my hair relaxed (my friend will do it for free) and stay over. Then on Saturday go to my hairdresser (who resides a good hour away on public transport) so that she can cut/trim my hair and add a fringe. Then fly down to Birmingham as I managed to wrangle myself a press ticket to go and see Beyonce- of course London’s sold out. Return to London on Sunday go straight to church, and get ready for my Ents slot which takes place at 1am Monday morning. My head hurts just thinking about this weekend. Times like these I need a car, oh well as a friend of mine often says’ success doesn’t rest!

Drama week 3

This week had to be my most uncomfortable Drama class to date. Why because we all had to sing solo. I don’t mind signing once in my own element but when put on the spot in front of a group of strangers, it’s a whole different ball game. We started off with a rap and then we all had to sing a verse of “With a little help from my friends” by The Beatles. Cringe I did not love it at all but I got on with it.

We learnt about vocal skills and the way in which people speak. The pitch, the pace, the tone, and pauses will make all the difference. Yes things we all already know but don’t seem to pay much attention too. Attitude was the main focus of yesterday’s class, and the word for the evening was P.M.A (positive mental attitude). We all know this can make or break any situation in your life but again don’t tend to follow it!

We looked at the strengths and weaknesses of our voices and realised that we all found it easy to highlight the negatives but struggled with the positives. Why do we do that? My weakness is that I talk really fast when nervous or over excited so my tutor told me plain and simple “Karen just breathe”. If I find myself getting tongue tied just take a deep breath and start again. We also learnt the value of individuality and to just be ourselves. People will either like you or not and if they don’t that’s their problem. My tutor is a feisty little mama but she is so cool! Yesterday’s class was nerve racking but I learnt a lot yesterday, roll on week 4.

Obsessed

I really hoped this was going to be a good film. However when I saw the trailer and read the plot I had my reservations. This is basically Fatal Attraction meets The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. It’s not anything original which was disappointing and the plot is poor. This is probably the first non singing role for Beyonce hmmmm… maybe she should just stick to singing?!?! I really don’t know what to say about her acting on this occasion. Idris Elba was okay although it’s been said he under acted in order not to over shadow Beyonce and Ali Larter played a pretty good psycho seductress.

This film is predictable and slightyly over exaggerated. I found some of the scenarios a little unrealistic and was left scratching my head in confusion. In particular a fight scene towards the end of the film where Beyonce head butts Ali Larter (side-eye). Do women head butt women?!?! I detect Sasha Fierce is trying to enter the building.

Surprise, surprise Beyonce and Matthew Knowles were two of the executive Producers for this flick, so they’ll be getting paid regardless, I give this movie 4/10. I wonder what Jay Z said when he watched this …good work baby!!!
